thingNY – minis/Trajectories
released September 20th, 2016
The composer-performers of thingNY have worked for ten years as an ensemble to carefully craft a unique style of energetic, poetic music, performed by an inimitable group of musicians. This fall, thingNY releases its second album: minis/Trajectories: the music of Paul Pinto and Erin Rogers.
minis/Trajectories will be available digitally and as a limited “artist’s edition” 12-inch 180 gram vinyl containing beautifully engraved 12×12 scores of the recorded works.
Trajectories is Erin Rogers’s multi-movement work for thingNY’s instruments, voices and ability to improvise, based on some of life’s trajectories (I. Money, II. Action, III. Love, IV. Family). Also on the record, a 2009 work Chronolinea, a whispering/screaming concertino for vocalist and ensemble. The minis are part of thingNY founder Paul Pinto’s ongoing series of short theatrical, stream-of-conscious compositions blending chamber music, storytelling, and poetry.
Performed by Gelsey Bell, Hristina Blagoeva, Andrew Kozar, Will Lang, Andrew Livingston, Pat Muchmore, Josh Perry, Paul Pinto, Erin Rogers, Dave Ruder, and Jeffrey Young
