Gelsey Bell – This is Not a Land of Kings

You’ll no doubt be familiar with vocalist and songwriter Gelsey Bell from her work on GBR recordings with thingNY and Varispeed, as well as her collaborative releases with John King and Joseph White. This EP features three original songs by Bell, arranged for three female voices and sung powerfully by Bell, Amber Gray, and Grace McLean, who honed their collective sound performing together nightly in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 for a year and Broadway. These arrangements bring elements of Bell’s vocal practice, ranging from folk to experimental to pop to improvisation, into a compellingly layered trio texture.
